One of the things I love the most about being an internet entrepreneur is that I don’t have to figure out everything for myself all the time. Yes, I do have my own website where I sell my own products, but a huge portion of my profit as an online businessperson comes from selling other people’s products as an affiliate marketer.

There are several ways you can make money through Amazon including signing up for Amazon handmade where you get to sell your handcrafted goods, trying Merch by Amazon and selling T-shirts with designs made by you, and publishing your own digital books via Kindle Direct Publishing.
You can also sign up for Amazon FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) where Amazon takes care of your products and delivers them to your customers.
As for me, I prefer Amazon Associates, Amazon’s affiliate marketing program. I know that’s kind of obvious, but hey, I’ve been an affiliate marketer for so long, and I just love the idea that I can make money online without having to have my own products. I also don’t have to worry about inventory and shipping! All I need to do is build a website where I can promote and sell products that I know people are going to buy.
Now, the question that remains is how do you make your Amazon business as profitable as it can be? Allow me to show you some practical steps in the following sections.
Staying Proactive Is the Key
I have to tell you first and foremost that making money on Amazon isn’t automatic. You simply can’t list your products on the website and then wait for people to come across your brand and buy from you. Even if you’re doing Amazon affiliate marketing, you can’t expect to make money just by coming up with a website and promoting Amazon products.
You have to be PROACTIVE!
That means you need to make certain preparations, such as build an SEO-friendly website that will draw people to your products. I didn’t have a problem with this when I was starting because I had Wealthy Affiliate train me on how to build a profit-ready website.
This also means putting time and effort into your website content. Never think that sloppy content would do. If you want to gain and retain an audience with the potential to become repeat customers, you need to learn how to craft original content that’s valuable, insightful, and detailed. This is a very crucial step and one you shouldn’t skimp on.
Most importantly, you need to market your business on different online platforms. You can use forum marketing and email marketing, but social media is one of the fastest and easiest ways to get the word out about your products. What you can do is write a blog post reviewing a particular product or set of products in your niche with links directing to your Amazon Seller page or Amazon store. Share this blog post to your social media sites next to spread the word about your business.
The Right Niche Will Make You Rich
I have tried selling several products online over the years, and while I understand that all products are profitable, some products are more profitable than the rest, and these are the products that will make you rich.
I personally prefer niches that remain strong in the market no matter the season. You can always make a quick profit from fad products like kid’s toys, such as fidget spinners, silly bands, or Koosh balls, but if you’re looking for long-term success, you’ll want to concentrate on products that people will always need and want to buy. I’m talking about weight-loss products, baby products, consumer electronics, and the like.
Just to give you an idea, I usually focus on five categories of products: products that improve health and make life comfortable, products that save people time and effort, products that entertain, products that help people learn, and products that help people make money and save money.
That said, I have a website where I promote CBD products. I also have a website that promotes baby products and parenting products. These products are all available at Amazon, and like me, you can add them to your website, and when someone comes across your website, clicks on the product link, and buys the item from Amazon, you can earn some commissions.
And these are just a couple of niches. There are literally thousands and thousands more other niches out there that you can tap and take advantage of!
