Wealthy Affiliate: Scam or Opportunity?

If you’re like most people, you probably think and believe that all online affiliate programs are a scam. I don’t blame you. I used to think the same way, too. The internet is a powerful platform, but unfortunately, it’s also a tool that is often taken advantage of by people who want to make money by ripping other people off.

One of the affiliate programs often dubbed by many people on the internet as a scam is Wealthy Affiliate. You’ll find articles online with the title, “Wealthy Affiliate Scam or Opportunity?”

I am saddened by this because I have been a member of WA for quite some time now, and I can tell you that it is by no means a scam. Of course, I can’t really prove that to you unless you yourself sign up and find out what WA is all about. Nevertheless, I will share some important points here why I can say that WA is an opportunity and not a scam.

Wealthy Affiliate Program at a Glance

Before anything else, let me show you what Wealthy Affiliate is all about. Wealthy Affiliate was founded by Kyle and Carson in 2005 with the primary mission of helping people find success through affiliate marketing.

What makes WA unique is that it is an affiliate marketing program for affiliate marketers. This means all the tools and resources they provide offer a straightforward way for people to start an online business, earn, and succeed. By straightforward, what I mean is that all their training tools are easy to understand. This means if you’re using them, you won’t have to worry about finding your way in the dark because everything you need is provided for you in a manner that’s plain and simple.

The entire Wealthy Affiliate program is based on a 4-step process to earning money online.

First, you’ll need to find your interest, also referred to as “niche.”

Second, you’ll build a website with that particular niche in mind.

Third, you’ll work to rank your website content on Google and other major search engines.

Yes, you read that right. You will need to work, and you’ll need to work hard if you are to succeed with Wealthy Affiliate. That’s because WA is not a get-rich-quick scheme. But then the good thing is that you have WA to guide you and provide you with the necessary information and tools you’ll need to succeed.

Wealthy Affiliate Transparency

One of the signs that an online program is a scam is when they seem to have hidden conditions and agendas. They will disclose some information regarding the company and the program but not all. The same is not true with Wealthy Affiliate, and this is one thing I like the most about the company.

The membership program and pricing offered by WA is straightforward. They advertise it on their website so you’ll know exactly what you get for a certain package you avail yourself of. The starter package, for instance, is FREE and does not require any credit card information in order for you to register.

This FREE starter package gives anyone interested in becoming an affiliate marketer the opportunity to do so without having to spend a single cent. And with this free package, you already have enough tools you will need to jumpstart your online business. This already includes a website builder, some training modules, and your personal affiliate blog.

Now, if you want to be a premium member, you can upgrade your account for only $19 for the first month, and $49 per month for the succeeding months. That’s not bad if you ask me. While an affiliate program that charges a substantial amount of money upfront is pretty much suspect, one that’s entirely free also raises questions.

Wealthy Affiliate Referral Program

Perhaps the one feature of Wealthy Affiliate that proves it to be an opportunity and not a scam is its affiliate referral program. Many consider this as proof that Wealthy Affiliate is nothing but a multi-level marketing scheme. I have to tell you, though, that nothing could be further from the truth.

Wealthy Affiliate is not a multi-level marketing scheme. For one, MLM companies work with members having to recruit “downlines.” It’s not so with Wealthy Affiliate. As a member of Wealthy Affiliate, you be trained to set up your own website where you can promote and sell your services, as well as earn commissions by promoting products and services of other companies.

You will not be forced to promote Wealthy Affiliate at all. That means you can still earn money simply by being a member of Wealthy Affiliate and without having to refer them to other people. That is because your ability to earn money with WA is not dependent on you referring the program to other people but on how hard and smart you work in promoting your brand.

That said, you can consider the Wealthy Affiliate Referral Program as some sort of gift by WA to you for being their member. To me, that is just one huge opportunity you don’t get every day.

Wealthy Affiliate Is Not a Shortcut to Success

Another sign that a company or program is a scam is if it promises you a huge return on investment for a very short period.

If you’re looking for a quick way to earn money and get rich via affiliate marketing, I am sorry to tell you that it’s not going to happen with Wealthy Affiliate. That should encourage you, though, because that means Wealthy Affiliate doesn’t promise any shortcuts to success. Again, it’s not a get-rich-quick scheme. Only scammers will tell you that they can make you rich in just a month or two, provided that you invest this and that amount of money.

Wealthy Affiliate does promise that it’s going to help you get wealthy. But it doesn’t promise you that you’re going to get wealthy simply by giving them your money.

What Wealthy Affiliate promises is that once you’ve made the decision of investing on its program and partnering with the company, WA is going to stay with you, train you, and guide you throughout your journey as an affiliate marketer. It promises to provide you with all the tools, information, and knowledge that you need to improve your skills as a marketer, skills that will drive you to success.

At the end of the day, Wealthy Affiliate is a provider of a huge opportunity for success. It’s up to you whether you’re going to grab that opportunity and work as hard as you can, dedicating your time and energy to your craft in order to reach your goals.

Conclusion

“Wealthy Affiliate scam or opportunity?”

Here’s a final piece of advice: Don’t take my word for it.

The only way for you to truly find out if Wealthy Affiliate is legit or not is to sign up. What I can promise you is that you will never regret such a decision. I took the first step several years ago, and I am reaping the harvest of what I have sown.
